Firestone Racing!

Christmas is almost here! so here's thanks to all this year! It was another great year here at FatDog and was a blast to get out on the track. Next year Bob Sunday promises to have the WR out on the track and we are working on a special project and going to the "Dark Side"!
We will br prepping Bruce K's 1912 Indian for the  Barber Motorsports Museum's "Race of the Century" in October. Bikes need to be 100 years old to compete! We are looking forward to it and will post pictures as the build progresses.
Here is a shot of the '14 with her new white Firestone Racing skins! All Patinaed up to match the rest of the bike, Now to mount the Clutch and rear brake and we are ready to go! Then on to the '15 Twin!

Freewheel Clutch Part 1

Check out this killer original freewheel clutch! Right after the Cannonball I was lucky enough to pick this up to replace the reproduction one on the '14. Since I am returning the bike to it's original skin, getting as many real components back on the bike is important to me. I unlaced this from an original 22" rim and needed to lace it to my 23" rim. Sorry folks, the old rim & spokes went to Joe G. for his 1915.

The rim, laced up to the original hub, ready for the white firestone racing tire to be mounted.
 As it sits now
Check out all the original nickel on this thing! Awesome!

Original Paint!

I am in the process of transforming the '14 back from race configuration to original. Right after the cannonball I came across an original rear clutch/hub/brake assembly. These are extremely rare! I am going to use the (reproduction) wheels and tires I had on the bike for my twin racer project. I put all the original components I had back on the bike including front rim, pedals and gas tanks. Now, thanks to a good friend, I recently aquired an original rear rim. These are real tough as they are a 40 hole rim for 2 1/4" tires, and are hard to come by. I matched the paint on it to the rest of the bike and have ordered rear spokes from Bucannon's in CA. When they arrive I will lace up my original rear hub and get it dressed in it's original Firestone white racing tires! Stay tuned!

On the Davenport Trail!

Davenport was a blast, but it taught us one thing! FatDog needs a twin! The mighty '14 Single gave it all she had but was no match for the powerful twins out on the track. lookout in the future as we have some tricks up our sleeve! Many thanks to Frank Rick and his crew for lending us some shade on this 90 degree day. It wasn't all bad though.. as Ken Schneider told me before the race, "All you have to do is finish, because someone is going to break down." Ken was right! not one, but TWO Indians broke down, and the FatDog HD "Indian Slayer" came in 9th!

Wauseon 2011 1/2 Mile!

Well we survived the heat in Wauseon and the FatDog Racing #33 Single ran flawless in the boardtrack class. We sure didn't have the power the twins did but still managed to beat one Indian twin! Congrats to Carl Estes and Pusherman Racing for taking the checkered with Matt Walksler, Mike Lange and John Rhodes hot on his heels. Those guys were really cooking. We will post some video later.

AHRMA Handshifter Video

Here is a short film I promised.

It's Alive!

Here is a photo of Bob Sunday and his recently constructed FatDog Racing pre-1940 AHRMA Handshifter! A break in the Wisconsin weather allowed us to get it out and do some tuning yesterday. We worked out some of the bugs and discovered a few things that will need to be addressed. Bob will campaign this bike on the AHRMA pre-40 handshift roadrace class this year. At this point, if all goes well, we are scheduled to run at Road America in June and Barber Motorsports Park in October. I will put up some video soon!

Cycle World Magazines' Cannonball Film.

This is Barry from Cycle World Magazine's 10 minute short film. It is the best documentary I have seen yet of the event last September. Take the time to watch, it will give all of you some great insigt into the run. I think it should win the Oscar!
